There’s no better time than August to choose your own adventure in BC. Whether you’re interested in a taste-journey across the province, or a staycation that’ll help you see a new side to your neighbourhood, you’re sure to find inspiration for your next adventure in this list of local delights!

Get to know a new local with these BC-based getaways:
  • Ride into the sunset at one of BC’s guest ranches, or get to know what’s growing with a farmstay. Agri-tourism lets you stay on site and learn about a working ranch or farm, as well as enjoy a taste of local treats.
  • Explore BC’s summer night markets: try delicious local food and enjoy beautiful performances while you stroll the stalls on a summer’s evening. Night markets are plentiful in Richmond, Surrey and Vancouver’s North Shore. Outside the Lower Mainland, you can still enjoy Ship Point Night Market and the Oak Bay Night Market on Vancouver Island, and the Leon Night Market in the Okanagan.
  • Relax with one of BC’s many warm and welcoming wine tour getaways! Explore local tastes and terroirs across the province - and of course, these wineries pair perfectly with side-excursions to meet local cheesemakers.
  • Pick up a guide book and go exploring solo. BC is full of delicious taste destinations. Try Sointula Island, where their Finnish bakery still produces delicious pulla bread; or the magical orchards at Fruit Trees and More in North Saanich.
  • Bring your appetite and get ready to go on a food tour: with many to pick from across BC, you’re sure to find a culinary adventure that suits your appetite.

Want to stick closer to home? Go hyper-local and enjoy discovering new parts of your neighbourhood with these summer staycation ideas:
  • Try your family on some no-fail local fun: we’ve got the perfect tips for how to plan a trip to a nearby farmer’s market, DIY bicycle tours, children’s cafes and more.
  • Head to your local agricultural fair! The traditional place to meet your makers (and farmers, and bakers). Agricultural fairs are a family-friendly day trip and a lovely way to support local.
  • Go berrying: you’ll be surprised at the abundance of berries available in BC! Spend a day in the sunshine picking your favourites, then break out these recipes to enjoy the - ahem - fruits of your labour.
  • Rained out? Get to know your local bakery. BC’s bakeries are the best way to warm up a grey day.
